This tablet run fast and smooth, pairing the tablet-tailored Android operating system with potent processors. It also comes with the ability to choose to personalise the tablet experience; whether essential work and fun, extended battery life, or premium. With a large sized display allowing for a fine view of content, the tablet has a 4:3 aspect ratio which allows for content to look just like on a normal B5 notebook. This allows for more words on a line than in a 16:10 aspect ratio and enhances reading e-books or browsing websites. The screen is also sized to enable the user to be able to reach the on screen keyboard comfortably and enables them to type with both thumbs, enhancing responsiveness.

The Iconia A1 Tablet comes complete with the Acer Touch WakeApp. This allows the user to benefit from the ability to save time when taking the device off of sleep mode by skipping many of the steps required to activate it. By the use of a 5-finger touch or a 2-thumb gesture, the device will wake from sleep mode and automatically rotate to the correct orientation should it be picked up in a different way to when it was put down. An added benefit to this feature is the ability to access an app straight from sleep mode, without having to first wake up the device and then launch the app, saving time and reducing waiting.

Featuring an in-built Micro HDMI port, the user has the ability to connect to a whole range of other devices. This means that the Iconia A1 Tablet can be connected to a bigger display for example, in order to share content with others.
A 5 MP camera on the rear side lets users capture scenes in 1080p format. When combined with the ability to share content on a larger screen this allows for a good view of the scene and an enhanced experience.
The inbuilt 0.3 MP webcam set into the front of the tablet as well as the speakers and microphone are all located in order to allow the user to video chat. This enables them to communicate face to face online with others and benefit from the clear picture.
